2018 IWF World Championships: The Asian Lifters takes all Gold Medals in Men Categories!!

November 6th, 2018 Now, we come to the halfway of the great weightlifting championships, 2018 IWF World Championships, at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Everyone come here to watch the world class lifters who show their great performances on the stages.
For the Men category, it started with Men’ 55kg, OM Yun Chol (PRK), the 2013 – 2015 World Championships winner, collected three Gold medals with a 120kg Snatch, a 162kg Clean and Jerk and a Total of 282kg. Moreover, he set the first Senior World Record in the Clean and Jerk with 24kg advantage over silver medalist CHONTEY Arli (258kg) from Kazakhstan. In addition, SCARANTINO Mirco (ITA) won the Bronze Medal in Total (252kg). There are two lifters missing their attempts in the Snatch but winning medals in the Clean and Jerk afterwards. Furthermore, there are two lifters winning medals in the Clean and Jerk, Silver Medalist with 142kg LAI Gia Thanh (VIE) and one kilogram behind him, Thai CHOMCHUEN Teerapat. Youth World Records were also set by Bulgarian RUSEV Angel Hriskov in the Total with 248kg and CHOMCHUEN Teerapat (THA) with Clean and Jerk 141kg.
In the Men’s 61kg bodyweight, IRAWAN Eko Yuli (INA), the Asian Games winner, became World Champion by setting a World Record in the Clean and Jerk 174kg and the Total 317kg, he totally won three Gold Medals in this category. Also, two Chinese lifters joined him on the podium: LI Fabin with 310kg, as Silver Medalist and Bronze Medalist, QUIN Fulin with 308kg. In addition, ERGASHEV Adkhamjon (UZB), 2018 Junior World Champion, set three Junior World Records.
Once again, the Asian winner was announced in the Men’s 67kg bodyweight category, after winner from PRK and INA in the past categories. CHEN Lijun (CHN), 2013 and 2015 World Champion, claimed the first place with Total 332kg. HUANG Minhao (CHN) won the Silver Medal with Total 323kg and the third place is MOYARA PERNIA Julio Ruben (VEN).
Chinese team keep on their glory with the Olympic and World Champion, SHI Zhiyong (CHN), won all three Gold Medals in the men’s 73kg bodyweight category. The Chinese lifter triumphed with 164kg in the Snatch and 196kg in the Clean and Jerk, achieving 5 World Record altogether, with 360kg in the Total. The Silver Medal was taken by WON Jeongsik (KOR) (348kg) who lifted 195kg in Clean and Jerk. LIKHARAD Vadzim (BLR) was the third in Total and second in the Snatch. On this lift, the other Chinese FENG Lyudong got the Bronze with 155kg. RAHIMOV Nijat (KAZ) finished third (190kg) in the Clean and Jerk. In addition, the youngest and several times Youth and Junior World Champion, CUMMINGS JR Clarence, set 4 Junior World Records in this bodyweight category.
For the Men’s 81kg bodyweight category, there are many new World Records. The Olympic Champion and now four times World Champion, LYU Xiaojun (CHN), finishing second in both lifts but winning the Gold in the Total. He broke a World Record in the Snatch with 172kg, but Olympic Bronze Medalist, MAHMOUD Mohamed Ihab Youssef Ahmed (EGY) lifted one kilogram more. On the third place, LI Dayin (CHN) with Snatch 168kg. In the Total, there was 1-1kg difference between the first three lifters. The World Champion title belongs to LYU with 374kg and also a World Record. He was followed by MAHMOUD and LI. In addition, MAURUS Harrison James (USA), the youngest in the bodyweight category, set 3 Junior World Records.
